CITY OF CARDS
A tireless collector of objects, clippings and images, Fornasetti explored the theme of cards games starting from his own private collections. From tarot cards to playing cards, what fascinated him about them was their iconographic and illustrative aspect, but he also understood games metaphorically as an imaginative, artistic dimension, parallel to the real world. This is how he constructs invented landscapes and surreal cities, inhabited by kings and queens and dominated by voluminous yet light, precarious and intriguing architecture.
DREAMLIKE LANDSCAPES
The set of 12 hand-decorated plates is a journey into Fornasetti's visionary mind. Each plate is a different landscape where images of architecture and playing cards merge into dreamlike scenes.
The Città di Carte home accessories combine function and creativity, the ordinary and the unusual, the everyday and the extraordinary.
Wood and metal are decorated by hand following the original 1950s colour models.
