THE COLLECTOR, PLEASE NOTE
The Fornasetti antique market has made a name for itself since many years.

of the 50’s and 60’s have reached considerable quotations

the main reason why forgeries
have multiplied; incorrect attributions and dates. It is possible in fact
to find objects that are being passed off as originals on the antique market
since the production of re-editions is still going on.
With the production of re-editions still going on, it is possible to find

We would like to help collectors not to be taken in. Please
consult us writing an e-mail: info@fornasetti.com
-sending us images and information before any purchase. Re-editions
and new objects, i.e produced after 1988 (the date the artist Piero Fornasetti
died) are marked with a date and number, as well as with the trademark
printed onto the decoration. This does not occur with porcelain which
can be easily recognized by the printing technique: it was mostly lithographic
in the '50s, while today it is different.
Re-editions are often mistaken for vintage pieces because both number
and date have been removed, it also happens that the date is hidden by
moving the adhesive label (which is never on the decoration) on the top
of it.
Objects under license (produced by other autorized manufacturers) date
back to 1991 at most. Many of these items were produced by "Compagnia
del Tabacco" (a licensee from 1992 to 2000). You can also
find absolutely unauthorized chairs in circulation.
It is recommended not to buy from unauthorized internet sites if the objects
for sale do not bear Fornasetti trademark. There were also imitations
in the '60s that generally had a similar style but were not made by Fornasetti.
Thanks to modern technology we can send pictures in real time and therefore
it is quite simple to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
