TWO FORNASETTI PIECES OF FURNITURE AT PARIS MAD FOR THE GIO PONTI RETROSPECTIVE

19 October 2018

“Tutto Ponti. Gio Ponti Archi-Designer ”, the retrospective dedicated to the eclectic designer opens to the public today at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (MAD) on rue de Rivoli in Paris. Among the five hundred pieces selected by the curatorial team are also the chair and the desk designed in the early 1950s by the famous architect and decorated by Piero Fornasetti with the “Farfalle” motif.
Piero Fornasetti and Gio Ponti had a strong bond of friendship that led them to a close collaboration: they met during the Milan Triennale in 1933 and it was Ponti himself who first recognized Piero’s talent and to whom the architect entrusted several decorative works such as Palazzo del Bo in Padua and the Sanremo Casino.
